This week, Room 10 has been learning about how to Bounce back in difficult situations.
                   This is my DLO on staying optimistic.

What I did in the lockdown

What I did in the lockdown

In the lockdown me and my family did not do that much in the

lockdown but we had so much fun because we did activities together.

So me and my family did some cooking and played a game like volleyball.

My family taught me to play, then we played volleyball everyday.

My mum cooked some yummy food then the next day me and my sister cooked

brownies and it was nice but my sister Ngakiri mashed up the chocolate

but it was still nice and I made the chocolate pancakes then after we ate we were

super fool. Next we just went to rest because we're tired so we just went to sleep.

 Then the next day I went to the hangouts but I

have’t been on the hangouts that much but I'm still learning

now that I come back to school and I am getting better.

Strategy: Divide the whole by the denominator. Then multiply the
answer by the numerator.

I felt confident working out the
fractions of numbers.

ms. smith bought 85 water balloons for the water fun day

and Ms. kyee bought 52. how many water balloons did

ms. smith and ms. kyee buy altogether?

So we did 85 + 52 so we 80 + 50 = to 130 then we did

5 + 2 = to 7 then we added 130 + 7 = to 137

and that is how we solve the problem.

There are 8 pencils in a box. AJ has 15 boxes of pencils. How many pencils are altogether?

15 x 8 = ??

10 x 8 = 80

5 x 8 = 40

80 + 40 = 120

To solve this problem, I used place value partitioning.

I multiplied 10 by 8 and I got 80 as the answer. Then,

I multiplied 5 by 8 and I got 40 as their answer.

Then I added 80 and 40 and I got 120. So AJ has

120 pencils altogether.

Hi, my name is Wuatai. My first day was great
because I was going to a new class and the same
teacher from 2019.

This year I am in Room 10 and my teacher is 
Mr.Nath. I am in year 6 now. I am very
excited to be in Room 10

because I learn more.

My goals for this year are to become
more fluent in  reading. I also want to become more
confident at writing.
